 The
Foundation is located in a privileged place, the Boavista zone, which
corresponds to the new part of the city. The Foundation is easy to
reach from the various points of the city either by bus or by car.
Furthermore, it is located near the exit of highway A1 (that connects
Porto to Lisbon) and highway A3 / A4 (that connects Porto to the North
of Portugal).
The buildings of the Foundation are surrounded by
large gardens with trees and parking facilities. They have been used
for cultural activities, such as congresses, conferences, music
recitals, etc.
“Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida” has a
Museum where several pieces collected by its founder can be found:
furniture, jewellery, textile, china, paintings, watches and coins.
The numismatic collection, including Greek, Roman, Byzantine, French
and Portuguese gold coins is of particular interest.
