IV IBERIAN CONFERENCE OF LIMNOLOGY

Introduction

Porto, at the mouth of the Douro, the river with the largest flow on the atlantic slope of the Iberian Peninsula, sets the scene for the joint unfolding of the IV Iberian Conference on Limnology and the XII Conference of the Spanish Limnological Association.

Themes have been selected from the diverse fields of biology, ecology, chemistry, physics, geology, toxicology, health and management of fresh, brackish and hypersaline water systems.

It is our hope that scientists, water managers, technicians, students and other parties interested in the study of inland aquatic systems will come flowing to our city on the waters of this huge hydrographical basin and merge into an interdisciplinary limnological forum.

Conference Format

There will be four invited speakers, oral presentations and poster sessions.

There will be a special session on "Limnological challenges of the Water Framework Directive". Additional special sessions and seminars could also be organised by interested parties. Interest in this should be addressed to the organising committee with suggestions for themes and names of the organisers of such special sessions.
