Current Position and Role

Lecturer in e-Learning for Hydrography at Marine Learning Alliance Ltd.

Carlos joined Plymouth University's Hydrographic Academy (HA) in October 2013. He moved from Portugal, where he has been Assistant Professor in Oceanography at the University of Porto. He has a background in practical oceanography, remote sensing and computer programming for database analysis. Amongst his busy academic career, Carlos has found time to found and run a successful web design and production company, and has developed and maintained websites for leading scientific organisations.

Plymouth University has a proud maritime heritage stretching back 150 years, and the Hydrographic Academy builds upon the University’s expertise in delivering vocational training and academic learning.

The Hydrographic Academy uses the latest concepts and technology in distance e-learning to meet the training and education needs of the global hydrographic survey industry.

Carlos has already delivered e-lectures for HA's modules of the DipHE Hydrography for Professionals and PgDip Advanced Hydrography for Professionals and was assigned as tutor of a cohort of distance-learner students.
