International Certification for Neurosonology

The project of an International Certification for Neurosonology was launched by the officers and the Executive committee of the Neurosonology Research Group of the World Federation of Neurology (NSRG) during the 2005 meeting in Osaka, Japan.  The European Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics (ESNCH) joined this initiative. The Chairman of the project is Prof. Dr. Michael von Reutern, Germany, the Commission Vice Chair is Prof. Dr. Eva Bartels, Germany. The aim is to improve the neurosonographic quality worldwide. The certificate should indicate a high level of theoretical knowledge of the candidate and sufficient practical skill to be able to teach Neurosonology.

The first NSRG / ESNCH examination for the International Certification for Neurosonology took place during the 12th Meeting of the ESNCH, held in Budapest in May 2007.  Subsequent examinations took place in Genova in May 2008 (13th ESNCH Meeting), in Bertinoro during the 1st International Neurosonology Training Course in September 2008, in Riga in May 2009 (14th ESNCH Meeting), in Budapest in March 2010, in Madrid in May 2010 (15th ESNCH Meeting), in Dubrovnik during the 2nd International Neurosonology Training Course in September 2010, in Munich in May 2011 (16th ESNCH Meeting), and in Venice, 17-20 May 2012 (17th ESNCH Meeting).

The next examination for International Certification for Neurosonology will take place in Porto during the 18th Meeting of the ESNCH, 24-27 May 2013.
